ALRC Citizenship Services

The ALRC offers citizenship services to those involved in citizenship preparation education including teachers, tutors, and program administrators receiving funding from the Illinois Community College Board, the Secretary of State Literacy Office, and the Illinois Department of Human Services/New Americans Inititative (NAI).

Services include virtual and in-person training workshops, an educator forum, individual program consultation, and resource development and sharing. Practitioner resources include the Handbook for Citizenship Educators in Illinois and the Citizenship Education Resource Guide

ALRC Citizenship Email List 
The ALRC sends periodic email updates to citizenship educators in Illinois and shares relevant information from the USCIS Office of Citizenship and the USCIS Chicago Field Office. To join the ALRC Citizenship email list, send an email request to Catherine Porter at cporter@cntrmail.org.

Citizenship Training Workshops 
ALRC provides virtual and in-person training opportunities for citizenship educators throughout the year. Registration information is sent to members of the ALRC Citizenship email list.

Citizenship Educators Learn & Share Forum
The Citizenship Educators Learn & Share Forum is open to those involved in citizenship education including teachers, tutors, volunteers, and administrators. The group meets 2-3 times per year and builds networks among citizenship educators and staff at USCIS Chicago Field Office in order to enhance professional practice and keep educators current in the frequently changing field of naturalization.
