Assessment for Adult English Learners

The Illinois Community College Board has approved the following assessments for pre- and post-testing learners enrolled in adult English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes:

• CASAS Reading STEPS
• CASAS Listening STEPS
• BEST Plus 3.0
• BEST Literacy 2.0
• TABE CLAS-E Forms C/D

Training is required for all test proctors. The ALRC, as part of the Illinois Professional Development Network (PDN), provides training for ICCB-funded programs on CASAS tests. For more information and upcoming training opportunities, visit the Illinois PDN’s Excellence in Adult Education website.
