Professional Development Specialist

Current Work
Jenny provides training and technical assistance for teachers and adult education program administrators primarily in the areas of ESL, digital literacy, and instructional technology. She has designed and presented several professional development workshops that were delivered fully online as adult education moved into distance learning.

Past Projects
Jenny participated in the 2019-2020 cohort of the Illinois Digital Learning Lab and presented on her experience at the 2020 IACEA State Conference. She was also a featured participant during a week-long discussion about the Lab in the LINCS Integrating Technology community of practice. Jenny has contributed original texts for English Unlocked!, a text-based curriculum project of Literacy Minnesota, and has participated in an EdTech Maker Space project with CrowdEd Learning. Jenny served on the committee to revise the Illinois EL/Civics Competencies and contributed teaching activities to the Illinois EL/Civics Classroom Activity List.

Experience
Jenny holds a Master’s degree in ESL from Hamline University and a Graduate Certificate in TESOL from American University in Washington, D.C. She has taught ESL and ABE/ASE Language Arts classes since 2005 and continues to teach ESL classes. She also serves as Membership Chair and Vice President for Divisions on the Board of Directors for IACEA, the professional association for adult education in Illinois.
